A township adventure!
We set out this week with MC to explore Langa Township, where we went completely off the beaten track and down secret alley ways to talk to the local medicine man who offered us special love potions amoung other wild and crazy treatments and “muti”. We then learnt all about what this community was like during the apartheid era straight from the horses mouth as MC grew up here and attended the local school during this time! We were invited into his home which go back 3 generations and where he grew up.
We then went to visit one of the pre apartheid hostels to see how the migrant labourers had to live during this extremely difficult time. After we had asked all our questions and learnt all about the history surrounding the apartheid era, we decided to visit the local shebeen and try the home brewed bear and spend some time with the locals getting to know township life!
