Back to school!

With waka waka performances, visiting a crocodile farm and acting the jungle´s animals, the last week came to a dramatic closure, both volunteers and children were sad to see the holiday program come to an end. The children learnt a new song “lean on me”, it was the perfect way to show our love and unity with the children and the children with us. Emily, our longest volunteer in Paarl, prayed with the children in Afrikaans and although they couldn’t understand the words it was evident that they could understand the emotion and began to sing their new song. It was one of the most beautiful things I have seen since being in South Africa and yet also one of the saddest.
After such an amazing month we are now about to embark on preparing our Pre-school program at the hope centre for 20 new children from 3-5 years old. These children will be particularly special to us as they have come from disadvantaged backgrounds within Paarl and have little or no English. It is going to be a challenge both for myself and the volunteers however a challenge which will be the start of fantastic program. LET´S GO TO PRESCHOOL - WATCH THIS PACE TO SEE HOW WE GET ON…
