The time of my life!
I took a chance on GVI in South Africa never having heard of it and I won the jackpot. Starting by googling for a service trip abroad, I ended up working with beautiful children in a South African Township outside of Cape Town.
Every step from contacting GVI on the internet to living with other volunteers around the world to teaching the children has worked smoothly. The program reaches the most needy children and allows people to be involved in their lives. Every day we go as a group to the orphanage and the children absolutely steel our hearts. My class of three have such energy and enthusiasm. As we study the seasons making mittens out of paper and sewing them together with yarn, they soak up every moment.
The experience of even spending a short time in their lives is wonderful. No matter whether you are old or young, male or female or where you are in your life, to have an opportunity such as working here is like nothing else. Each day brings new learning for the children and to the volunteers.
