First Aid Course for Masiphumelele Community
We’ve just
run our very first community CPR and First Aid course with some of our Project
Partners in Masiphumelele. To be honest,
I was quite apprehensive about it beforehand.
Not only is it the first time we have done this course with local
community members but it is the first time I have run this course at all. I have massively increased respect for these
people. Not only can they casually and cheerfully put up with hardships that we
would never cope with in our day to day lives, but they can learn new and
complex skills in a totally foreign language.
There were a few hiccups and misunderstandings along the way but that
was to be expected. We had a lot of
laughs too. I also have to commend the
participants for some excellent handling of some very tricky situations, and
some Oscar level acting in the role plays.
