Foundations Program a Success
The time
has come to draw a line under another very successful GVI Foundations project.
For those of you who haven’t heard (where have you been??) we had a group of
15-17 year olds working at Marine Primary school near Cape Town, and I think it
is fair to say they’ve left a mark. In the case of our construction program
that was a very visible mark with hours of painting creating an educational
atmosphere “both in and out of the classroom”. For other parts, such as the
computer workshops we were helping out with that mark may be less obvious, but
no less important. We have left behind us some very grateful teachers and
students. On our last day we were inundated with people wanting photos taken
with us and the head teacher and volunteer coordinators all gave mini speeches
thanking us. I’m sure I speak for everyone involved in wanting to thank the
staff and kids at Marine for a memorable fortnight. We certainly hope it has
laid the foundations for a long term partnership between GVI and Marine.
