Media coverage day a hit for the Ikhayalethemba Bakery!

And here we are, the last and probably most intense week. Myself and Cat decided to share our leading day with the focus on the bakery as we had both been working on this project for 7 weeks and despite ups and downs we both loved it! The day was filled with fun activities and games and as part of my leadership I organized the children to have some bakery workshops with Simon our baker. Cat was responsible for creative and decorating some giant cakes and biscuits and a waka waka dance with the children.
After being dressed in net hats, great looking aprons and having washed their little mits the real fun could begin. If you could walk in right then you’d have seen little hands covered in flour and huge smiles on their little faces. Meanwhile the others were getting their hands dirty in glue and paint putting together some real masterpieces for the afternoon picnic. The afternoon saw the performance of the waka waka with their natural rhythm and awesome moves. Mama, Will, Shayle and Chris were all there and a lady from the local newspaper too. We got all the special needs children outside and the atmosphere was great, children enjoying the fruits of their labour in bread and biscuits and with a huge approval from Mama the day was a huge success. Of course this wouldn’t have been possible without GVI, thanks for this great opportunity that was just unforgettable!
