Wishing Mama Lumka a Happy Birthday

This week at Ikhayalathemba Village we celebrated Mama Lumka’s 63rd Birthday.  The children were so excited to make cards, beaded macaroni necklaces and necklaces. We also made a frame with each of the children’s handprints on. We took pictures of all the children to put in the frame.  Mama Lumka loved her gifts.  She wore the jewellery and put the frame in her office for all to see.  On Friday the children baked Mama a cake and presented it to her with a bouquet of tissue paper flowers.
There was even more exciting news, Siyonella, Lwando, Siphenkosi, Ntando and Amvuyele started Grade R in preparation for going to school. They all had huge smiles on their faces when they returned.  It shows that the effort that we put in really pays off and makes a difference and is encouraging the children to work hard for their first day at school.
It was a great week all round.
