We Will Succeed!

On Arrival day, none of the new volunteers knew what to expect from their time here in Fish Hoek. However, after settling in and having our first full training day the next day, everything became clear.  The training included a tour of the GVI projects, on in Westlake and three in Masiphumelele.  The volunteers were split accordingly going to all the project sites.

Working with the children is great and they are some of the best kids I have ever worked with. You can tell they really enjoy the places they attend and how beneficial it is to every child.  The children are able to do so much which they would most likely not have had at home from receiving an education to safe out-door play.  Teaching the children is easy to do as GVI has a curriculum set up to work from which makes it a lot easier to plan and deliver the half hour lessons every day.  On top of that all of the volunteers have been more than happy to help me when needed.

From being here in only a week I would like to think that I have had a positive effect on the children and I would like to think that all the other volunteers would say the same!
