Time to Say Goodbye

This week saw GVI Cape Town say a sad farewell to Katelyn who has been our first long term teaching volunteer. Katelyn has been with us for almost four months and now and in that time she has done a phenomenal job at the ACJ Primary School. She has helped build and develop the project to where it is today and her efforts certainly didn’t go unnoticed by the school and this was reflected in the farewell presentation they organised.

Children from grade 6 put together a song and dance performance as a show of their appreciation and it was incredible! It is wonderful to see normally shy children come alive with a song and a dance. The atmosphere was filled with joy and sadness and Mr Stofile gave a speech to thank Katelyn for all she has done, they presented her with a folder full of letters that the children had written and a flag they had made with the ACJ emblem.

We at GVI Cape Town would like to sincerely thank Katelyn for all her hard work and enthusiasm. We wish her every bit of luck in her future and hope she will come back to visit again soon!
