Five Stations in an Hour

Change is in the air at Nceduluntu Edu-care centre in Nomzamo. As the coordinator at the nursery, I have lately had a look at the schedule that is running and come up with some small changes to make the afternoons a bit more stimulating for the children that are still waiting to be picked up for the day by siblings and parents.
The plan is to set up five tables out in the play area after their naptime with stations like blocks, books, crayons etc. This time will be observed by our volunteers and give all the children a chance to get involved in activities and work on their fine motor skills. We will still be running the one on one time in the container with one of our volunteers but with the rest of the children we hope to that these tables engage and stimulate them for the last few hours of their day before they head home. It’s not until next week that we test this idea but the children and volunteers will hopefully like this set up so we can continue with it on an everyday basis.  Check back in for an update!
